Grand day Out - Through the looking Glass - 26 March 2011

And so ends an amazing week end of food, frilly frocks and a few lines of Code (George's First Love - I always maintain that the biggest threats in our relationship is assembler and excel!!). He was so excited that I agreed he take his laptop to elevenfortyfive for breakfast this morning, He could eat, code and drink Latte's, thats all a nerd really needs it seems!! =D.

But this photo diary does not include our morning. But rather our day out yesterday. When Kelso is away, we try cram a month of activity into just one day. It is awesome, but we are generally on our way home by 19:00 and ready for bed. The day started off slow, I even got to take about 30 minutes to just get the hair do together and got to stand and pout for the mirror for another 30. Kelso really keeps us in line it seems.

The day started for the late breakfast (I believe it is otherwise known as Brunch - hehe) at Wolves Cafe in Illovo. What a delightful little place. Little trinkets and things on the wall, some art and very friendly staff. I think we have decided you get the best latte's there. Well the resident latte expert believes this is so. I struggle to tell the difference between a Latte and a Cuppachino. They taste very much the same to me.

After that it was over spending at Sowearto Kids (Kelso is the proud owner of a Brown Stoney Ginger Beer T) and The Space - I am now the owner of the most beautiful frock there is. They are sharp though. This dress I tried on a few weeks back and thought, if it was meant to be, it would be there when I was done at the movies.. SHOCK HORROR, the one and only black size 34 piece of lace and poofyness was sold. Go in a few weeks later, and look at that... the ONLY black size 34 piece of lace and poofyness. It was "A SIGN THAT I HAD TO HAVE IT". And I know I will fit into the dress a few months down the line because I won't be eating again for a while. Luckily Kelso is a meaty little chap too! hehe

Onwards and upwards, we went to see a movie called "Another Year". I didn't know what the point of the movie was, but it was entertaining.

And then the beef with paprika and peanuts at Cranks. That place makes my heart sing sweet songs of love and happiness. The Singha beer left me dozing off in the car though. Apparently I'm a cheap date and a poor drinker. Must be why I gave it up as a waste of time!

And after all that fun of eating, drinking and laughing, I sit here typing this and waiting in anticipation for Kelso to get home.

So there is my story and now for a visual....

Wedding Photography Workshop - January 2011

I have certainly taken my fine time in getting to this one. I decided that a wedding photography workshop was a good idea when i saw the advert for it in January. It was held by Albert Bredenhann from Pixel Pro Photography.

My jaw dropped when I saw the buildings at Sammy Marks Museum. cracks in the wall, no windows, just beautiful. I learnt a fair amount about natural light and posing people. It was a good learning experience. It was also interesting to see how almost everyone got some of the same shots. Here are the ones I added a bit of Candice to.

The Love of My Life - Kelso Reese

I felt that my favourite person in the whole world is blog worthy. Meet my son, Kelso Reese Keogh, AKA, Astro Boy, Metro Man, Megamind, Ben 10, Alien Robot and the list goes on. He was born 10 December 2007 and recently blew out 3 candles on his birthday cake.

Being a mother wasn't on my "things to do before I die" list. But because life is like an impromptu production, he came in scene 26 and he has been my inspiration, my love and my little pork pie. He has taught me to see fun in the small things, the beauty in the simple things and above all, I am a lot more patient - hahaha - sometimes, More so then before at any rate. I have learnt the value of sleep and I still miss it, if I ever took sleep in's for granted, I don't anymore. I sit and think of all the all nighter parties and ask myself every day why I didn't rather sleep and bottle it all up. I think Kelso's philosophy is that he will sleep when he is dead, too much to do, too much to say and life is too short for lazing around. =D

He has given my life some sort of meaning and he has proven to be the best company when I am out of sorts. Climbing into his crazy world for just a little while leaves me laughing like I have never laughed before. His imagination is wild, his ways are silly and I just LOVE him. He is also my favourite person to photograph, this little boy inspires me every day. Looking at the world through his eyes is refreshing. And I hope he never looses his adventurous spirit.

A little Jozi through my looking glass - February 2011

I should start off by saying, I don't have many words to describe how much I enjoyed this walk. It was a wonderful afternoon that filled me with so much inspiration and left my heart singing. I got to be a tourist. How awesome, I have always wanted to be a tourist! The day was different than expected, but it was just amazing to see the city of Joburg through my lens and not fear for my life, although it did get a little nerve wrecking at some point.

I spent the day with some awesome people who I had only met that day. A bit unexpected of myself, seems I am not such a recluse after all. It was a day of many blessings and the Big Guy was certainly on my side.

We started off at 12 decades Hotel, I was in awe. How could such a place exist. Each room decorated with a theme in mind and each one just as amazing as the next. I was taken back by the writing in the toilet, photo is down below. After that it was to an art gallery, little market; which seemed like a different country, very trendy, arty and was alive. The streets of Jozi were interesting and I would have loved to have seen it in its heyday. Little mosaics on the side walk, little details you wouldn't notice while walking at a fast pace. And all this beauty lay amongst the decay that is Jozi's city centre. I felt so small at the top of the Carlton centre, Wowsers, Joburg is vast.

Thank you to the others that joined. It was pleasure meeting you all and I hope to do this again really soon. I decided that Dad and Son need more bonding time while this Mama bonds with her looking glass.

I think this was the most Random thing I have ever seen.
